Dan Matzek's Intros
|Harmon Hill Farm has been selected by Lori Jones to carry her prior introductions. Lori will continue to release her first and second year introductions but we will grow and sell her past releases. Lori has become known for her large reds but as you will see here she does much more than that. Lori has established an amazing hybridizing program on a small lot where space is at a premium and now that her past releases have moved to New Hampshire, she will have some much needed seedling space. She still has some of her past releases available for continued breeding and for bonus plants. While we have grown several of Lori's plants before, we are excited to have so many more to display and offer to our customers.|
|If you are interested in purchasing any of the cultivars below or have any questions, please email your request to either the hybridizer Lori-Ann Jones at email@example.com or Carl Harmon at firstname.lastname@example.org|

|WHIP CITY CARAMELIE SLAM (2013)
48" M 8" DOR TET Unusual form, Crispata - pinched, 4 branches ( 1 lateral plus a W ) with a 17 BC. Pollen looks good.
This bicolor is a light tan on the petals and the sepals are a golden yellow with a slight edge of the light tan found on the petals. Now add to this wonderful daylily a sprinkle of a little diamond dusting for glam and a yellow to green throat and you get visual appeal in a big way.
Seedling # 07-432 [03-463 ( Twist Of Lemon x 98-30 (Red Suspenders x Frankie's Fantasy) X TMS9 ( Cobb Seedling )]
|WHIP CITY CARAMELIE SLAM|

|WHIP CITY JOAN DAHL (2013)
46" EM 6.5" DOR TET Unusual form, Crispate, 5 branches (2 lateral plus a W ) with a 22 BC. Pod and pollen fertile.
The color is a medium pink with a lighter watermark. The petals show veining and the sepals have a thin ruffled white pencil line. Re-bloomed in my garden after a warm winter and survives beautifully in Florida in the Pan Handle. Seedling # 06-193 [ Exotic Dancer X (Richard Blanchard Seedling (One Last Dance x Fair Rosamond) x Moon Dazzler)]
|WHIP CITY JOAN DAHL|
|WHIP CITY SASSIE LASSIE (2013)
34" ML 6" SEV TET Unusual form, Cascade, curling, 3 way branching ( 1 lateral plus a Y ) with an 16 to 21 BC. Bud Builder. Pod fertile, pollen looks good. Bi-tone
The color is a lovely cherry red on the petals and a lighter cherry on the sepals. The petals are slightly ruffled and show a light diamond dusting. There is a white pencil line edge on both the petals and the sepals and the throat is yellow to green. Seedling # 07-132 ( Big Honking Red Head '10 X Whip City Cuddly Kitty '12 )
|WHIP CITY SASSIE LASSIE|
|WHIP CITY VICKANATOR (2013)
42" M 9" DOR TET, Unusual form, 3 branches ( 1 lateral plus a Y) with a 15 BC. Pod and pollen fertile. A beautiful pale lavender color with a very large yellow to green throat.
This seedling on its first bloom looked like it was going to take a bite out of you if given half a chance. By the following year, it showed me that it had bad hair days where it pinched on the sepals in reverse (not from a thin sepal). The petals cascaded and twist and on a good hair day, it just cascades beautifully. In my opinion, when you purchase this daylily, you are getting 2 for the price of 1 depending on what kind of a hair day it is having. Seedling # 06-304 ( Whip City Coochie Coochie Coo '11 X Orchid Waterfall)
|WHIP CITY VICKANATOR|
|WHIP CITY ZIPPADIE (2013)
34" ML 7" DOR TET Unusual form, Crispate - pinched, 19 BC, 5 way branching ( 2 lateral + W), pollen looks good, hardy zone 5. The color is golden with a light orange overlay on the petals and sepals enhanced by a deeper orange eye and a yellow to green throat.
When this daylily first bloomed, it caught my eye because it just bloomed for such a long time. It is hard to capture the color on camera because it depends on how the light is hitting it. The second image was taken in full sun and as you can see, Whip City Zippadie just glows and it can really pinch up a storm. Seedling # 03-374 (# 98-44 ( Red Suspenders x Spider Man) X Whip City Willie B '09)

WC Judy Judy Judy is a soft pale lavender on the petals and sepals enhanced by a pale yellow watermark above a very green throat. As the day progresses, the lavender fades to a lovely cream with just a hint of lavender. What I have noticed with 'WC Judy Judy Judy' is that the pistil will not be present in the first few blooms, but it does appear and she is fertile both ways. Seedling # 03-247 (# 95-19 (Cameroons x Malaysian Monarch) X Astral Voyager) $20

|BIG HONKING BRAZEN HUSSY (2011) 41" EM 6" Evr Tet
01-731 (Unknown (Another cross using garden name 'Lori's Fall Promise' as the pod parent) X LONG STOCKING)
Ah, to be young again and learning how to apply makeup, 'You're putting way too much lipstick on.' 'Do you want to look like a brazen hussy?' Well, this daylily knows how to overdo it with a hot bright orange red color with a yellow to green throat. She flaunts her color shamelessly and proudly making her a bright addition to any garden. This intro has shown pinching, twisting and curling from time to time. Big hit on the NEDS garden tour! 4 branches (2 lateral plus a Y ) with a budcount of 28. Pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|BIG HONKING BRAZEN HUSSIE|
BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES
|BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES (2011) 36" EM 8" Dor Tet Fragrant
(Seedling # 98-47 (RED SUSPENDERS x SPIDER MAN) X LONG STOCKINGS)
BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES is a luscious light orange red daylily with a yellow to green throat. What I like best about this daylily is the color, the slight ruffling on the petals and sepals and the size of the flower. This makes this daylily very visible and showy even at a distance. BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES holds it's color well, though the color is not as intense a saturation by the end of the day as with many daylilies, but it will not disappoint you. 3-way branching (1 lateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 13. Pollen fertile. BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES has set pod on it's own, but has not set for me. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|KNOLL COTTAGE JEANNE B (2011) 32" EM 5" DOR TET 4 branches 15 to 19 BC. Pod and pollen fertile.
Peach pink with a deeper purple eye and if you look closely, you will see an inner halo above the throat. The edges of the petals have a fine edge of purple radiating from the yellow to green throat. 01-551 (Fanciful Candy X Lady Dancer) $15
|KNOLL COTTAGE JEANNE B|
|KNOLL COTTAGE LUSHIOUS LUCY (2011) 42" M to ML 5.5" Dor Tet
01-202 [( Sldg 95-8 CAMEROONS x ONAWA) X BIG HONKING LUCY GOOSIE)]
Deep rose color with a purple overlay, the sepals are the same color and lighter but not enough of a density in color to call this a bi-tone. The throat is yellow to green with an off white midrib leading out of the throat onto the petals. 5 branches (2 lateral plus a W) with a budcount of 17. Fertility is unknown. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|KNOLL COTTAGE LUSHIOUS LUCY|
|WHIP CITY COOCHIE COOCHIE COO (2011) 39" ML 6.5" DOR TET UFO Crispate Twisting 03-283 (WHIP CITY ZINGIE '09 X ASTRAL VOYAGER)
Purple with a deeper halo. This daylily is what you would call a hybridizers flower and what a tickle it gave me when I saw that it was giving off some remarkable kids with great branching, fertile and beauty. Look at the kids and you will see what I am talking about. WHIP CITY COOCHIE COOCHIE COO makes a very nice ML presence in the garden even if you are not a hybridizer. 3 branches (W) with a budcount of 19. Fragrance. Pod fertile and the pollen looks good. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|WHIP CITY COOCHIE COOCHIE COO|
|WHIP CITY DAPPER DAN (2011) 33" EM 8.5" DOR TET UFO Crispate - pinching 3 way branching 15BC. Pod and pollen fertile.
This intro is a lovely polychrome showing pinks, melons and yellow with a green throat. The sepals exhibit a lovely off white 1/4 inch edge. The petals have some ruffles to it but the top of the petals where they pinch actually has a golden edge and that edge is tightly ruffled. Seedling # 01-851 (Red Suspenders X Risen Star) $20
|WHIP CITY DAPPER DAN|
|WHIP CITY FLIRTSIE (2011) 38" EM 7" Dor Tet UFO, CRISPATE - Twisted and Curled 00-323

WHIP CITY SWEET HONEY BEA
|WHIP CITY SWEET HONEY BEA (2011) 40" M to ML 7" Dor Tet UFO CRISPATE - Pinching
00-415 (CHICAGO CARDINAL X RED SUSPENDERS)
This intro is a sultry red self with light ruffling on the petals enhanced by a yellow to green throat. Bea Thibeault was at my home for the NEDS Western MA Garden Tour and stayed with me thru the HADS Regional, so she was able to see my seedling for more than just a day. Bea is a sweetheart and a good friend who has picked this seedling along with many others she felt were outstanding and that she would like in her garden. Bea is also the person who choose BIG HONKING FLAMING FLOOZY '08 for her Birthday present in 2006, so you know she has a good eye and can pick a winner. The name WHIP CITY SWEET HONEY BEA was chosen because her husband, Don, wanted this daylily called Sweet Bea and her best friend, Judy Avery, wanted it called Honey Bea and Bea wanted to be surprised. Hope everyone is happy! 5-way branching (2 lateral plus a W) with a budcount of 21. The pistel does not appear in all blooms and I have not been able to set pod on this daylily. Pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|WHIP CITY JOCELYN SPRAGG (2011) 36.5" M 7.25" Sev Tet UFO, SPATULATE
04-491 (TWIST OF LEMON X Sldg # 01-504 ( CHICAGO ROYAL X LONG STOCKING))
Dusty light rose with a large yellow to green throat. This beautiful daylily is named in honor of a lovely lady, Jocelyn Spragg, who gave much of her time for many years to something she loved. She will surely be missed by everyone in the New England Daylily Society and in appreciation for all of her efforts, I am naming this daylily in her honor. 5 branches ( 2 lateral with a W ) with a budcount of 15. Pod fertile and the pollen looks good. Hardy Zone 5. $15

|WHIP CITY TIZZIE (2011) 38" EM 8.5" DOR TET UFO, CRISPATA - Quilling, the sepals and the petals roll back, 5 way branching, 21 BC. Instant Rebloom.
WC Tizzie has a very deep purple color that holds very well in the sun. It also exhibits a thin white pencil line that leaves the petals and the sepals from the yellow to green throat and disappears as it moves towards the tips of the petals and sepals. Seedling # 03-23 (Astral Voyager X Seedling # 98-30 (Red Suspenders x Frankies Fantasy)) $17

|WHIP CITY UP IN SMOKE|
|WHIP CITY WIGGIE (2011) 31" M 8.5" Dor Tet UFO, CRISPATE - Pinched & Twisting
99-100 (RED TWISTER X RED SUSPENDERS)
Bi-color having a burnt red color on the petals and a lighter pale orange red on the sepals with a green throat. There is plenty of twisting and curling going on, sort of like wigging out, but on the down side, it is a slow increaser. 2 branches (Y) with a budcount of 10. Fragrant. Pod fertile, pollen looks good. Hardy Zone 5.

BIG HONKING CARL
|BIG HONKING CARL (2010) 37" ML 7" Dor Tet Bicolor (Seedling X RED SUSPENDERS)
BIG HONKING CARL is appealing in a number of ways. For one it is a bi-color showing a lovely overlay of rose to raspberry purple over the base red colored petals and a lighter color on the sepals. Secondly the petals have lovely soft ruffling with a pale golden yellow pencil line. Carl Harmon, owner of Harmon Hill Farm, liked this daylily when it bloomed for him in his garden after the 2008 Regional. The scapes were only a foot or so high for the Regional. (Dummy me forgot to check when it should bloom). For many reasons and with his permission, we have named it after him. What can I say, "Carl and BIG HONKING CARL are just lovable". 3 branches (1 lateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 12. Pod and pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $20
|BIG HONKING HEART THROB (2010) 32" M to ML 6.5" SEV Tet (Seedling ( VELVET WIDOW x Seedling) X Mason Seedling)
BIG HONKING HEART THROB has been an attention getter right from the beginning. The color is a lovely orange red with a red eye enhanced by a yellow to green throat. I will not be registering it as an Instant rebloom only because it did it for me once in 2008. If you are a daylily enthusiast, and you like the color orange-red because it pops, then BIG HONKING HEART THROB is for your garden. 3 branches (1 lateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 10-14. Pod and pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|BIG HONKING HEART THROB|
|BIG HONKING RED HEAD (2010) 40" ML 7" Dor Tet
(Seedling X Seedling (KNOLL COTTAGE TOTSIE MAMA X RED SUSPENDERS))
BIG HONKING RED HEAD is a fairly long blooming, bright red, large daylily with a yellow to green throat bursting out onto the petals and sepals. BIG HONKING RED HEAD has a very arresting color and shows a thin pencil line of pale yellow along the sepals. If you are looking to extend your mid late garden daylily blooms, then this is a must to acquire. Large flower. 3-4 way branching with a budcount of 23-30. Pod and pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $15

|WHIP CITY BREEZIE (2010) 32" M 6.5" Dor Tet Crispate Twisting (RED SUSPENDERS X CAMEROONS)
Like a sailboat on a calm ocean, WHIP CITY BREEZIE has a delicate movement from the curling of the sepals to the pinching of the petals. The color is a lovely rose pink blend that lightens just a bit as the day progresses and the sun has done it magic. 3 branches (1 plateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 11. Pod fertile and pollen looks good. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|WHIP CITY BREEZIE|
|WHIP CITY FOXIE LADY (2010) 34" M 7" Sev Tet UFO Crispate Pinched (RED SUSPENDERS X SPIDER MAN)

Hardy Zone 5. $15

WHIP CITY OOPSIE
|WHIP CITY OOPSIE (2010) 41" EM 7" Dor Tet UFO Crispate Pinched(CHICAGO STAR X RED SUSPENDERS)
Gold self. WHIP CITY OOPSIE is a superb parent passing on branching and budcount on more than one occasion. An example of this trait is WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE '09 loaded with buds and great branching. On this intro, WHIP CITY OOPSIE, we seemed to have placed the cart before the horse so to speak, (registering the offspring first) but the only reason it was not introduced sooner is because I was remiss in acquiring pertinent information to register OOPSIE, hence the name. The intense golden color with just a hint of a green throat makes WHIP CITY OOPSIE very alluring and making it a true show off with flair. 3 branches (1 lateral + Y). Pod and Pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $15
|Lori-Ann Jones's 2009 Introductions|
|WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE (2009) 35" EM 8.5" DOR TET Unusual Form, CRISPATE - Twisting with some pinching and curling, 2 to 3 way branching plus a Y with a 24 + BC. Pod and pollen fertile.
WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE won the AHS Best Seedling Award at Tower Hill in MA in 2007. One of the first things that the Exhibition Judges look when judging a seedling is that it has to be different than anything they have seen. If it passes this first test, then they continue to evaluate the seedling on merit and grooming. I was so pleased when seedling # 03-392 won the AHS Best Seedling Award at the AHS Exhibition. WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE is a very striking golden yellow daylily with a green throat and no fragrance. To have WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE blooming in a clump is truly marvelous. Seedling # 03-392 ( # 99-71 (Chicago Star x Red Suspenders) X Whip City Willie B) '09 $15
